Can R&D Intensity Reduce Carbon Emissions Intensity? Evidence from China
نویسندگان
چکیده
Among the ways to reduce carbon emission intensity (CEI), increasing of research and development (RDI) plays an important role in process. In China, how RDI reduces CEI has attracted widespread attention. Most scholars have not considered spatial effects study correlation between CEI; therefore, this paper uses panel data 30 Chinese provinces from 2007–2019 as a sample explore on using measures, analyzes regulatory market government process interaction effect model, explores mediating industrial upgrading, technological innovation human capital model. The empirical results illustrate that: (1) significant positive autocorrelation. clustering characteristics obvious regional differences. (2) local area while it same reducing surrounding areas. conclusion is robust. (3) play facilitating that affects CEI, but there are (4) can indirectly by promoting improving innovation, capital. Finally, according conclusions, put forward policy suggestions: strengthen cooperation, guide funds into field, improve business environment, promote train relevant talents. content findings enrich theories related influence certain implications for future based perspective.

Reducing Carbon Emissions from Shopping Trips: Evidence from China
With rising income and the emergence of modern shopping centers in urban China, shopping trips by private car becomes more and more common, leading to higher carbon emissions in the transport sector. Encouraging car owners to shift transport mode from private car to public transport could achieve significant emissions reductions. This study estimate carbon emissions savings by shifting from pri...
متن کاملCan Carbon Based Import Tariffs Effectively Reduce Carbon Emissions?
We estimate CO2 implicitly contained in traded commodities based on the GTAP 7 data: While net carbon imports into the industrialized countries amount to 15% of their total emissions, net carbon exports of the developing countries amount to 12% of their total emissions, and net carbon exports of China amount to 24% of China's total emissions. We also analyze policies under a global per capita e...
متن کاملBanking Structure, Labor Intensity, and Industrial Growth: Evidence from China
While China has seen rapid economic growth over the last three decades, many studies document a negative correlation between traditional measurements of banking development and economic growth in China. Among many efforts to explain the low efficiency of Chinese banking sector, two arguments focus on the dominance of the four big state-owned banks but they emphasize different facets of the “Big...
متن کاملAnalysis of global emissions , carbon intensity and efficiency
greenhouse gas (gHg) emissions from agriculture, including crop and livestock production, forestry and associated land use changes, are responsible for a significant fraction of anthropogenic emissions. using data from a new gHg global database developed at FAO, we focus on global indicator trends in the agriculture sectors, in relation to the carbon intensity of key food commodities. in partic...
متن کاملComparing climate policies to reduce carbon emissions in China
Currently, China is the largest carbon emitter mainly due to growing consumption of fossil fuels. In 2009, the Chinese government committed itself to reducing domestic carbon emissions per unit of GDP by 40– 45% by 2020 compared to 2005 levels. Therefore, it is a top priority for the Chinese government to adopt efficient policy instruments to reduce its carbon intensity. Against this background...
